Deconstructing Sexuality and Truth
Heidegger, Foucault, and Sufism deconstruct Western truth-manufacturing applied to sexuality. Discover Dasein, Al-Haqq, and heart's 'aql beyond reason.

The Prior Question of Truth
To define sexuality, one must address the prior problematic question of defining truth and reality as well as defining man. Martin Heidegger reveals how Western thinking constructs truth through shallow definitions that reduce man to a "thing." Biology sees a machine, psychiatry a mind, sociology mere interactions—these compartmentalized views create false conclusions masquerading as truth.
Heidegger's Dasein—"being there"—reframes man not as truth's measure, but as measured by Truth itself. Islam affirms this uniquely: Allah is Al-Haqq, Absolute Truth beyond "what," "when," or "where." Defining Allah creates theology, reducing the incomprehensible to concepts—shirk by comparison. Truth cannot be manufactured; it transcends human perception.
Greek aletheia (unveiling) became correspondence between statement and object, birthing Western "truth." Arabic distinguishes sahih (correct) from Haqq (Absolute Truth). This ontological shift underpins modern science, law, and discourse.
Western Thinking's Evolution
Heidegger traces Western thought as a "history of Being," from theology's first science to Nietzsche's "will to power"—the end of philosophy, arriving at nihilism. Subjectivity reigns: Kant's objectivism as refined subjectivism, Schopenhauer's "will of will." Man-made gods die; rational values prove valueless.
Sufism counters: Truth belongs to Allah alone. Man-made statements are mere opinion. The Qur'an declares quloob ya'qiloon (22:46)—hearts cognize Truth, not blinded eyes but hearts within chests. 'Aql is heart's vision (basirah), not brain's reason. Marifatullah (gnosis) labors through the heart. Heidegger echoes: "Science does not think."
Foucault and the Discourse of Power
Michel Foucault applies Heideggerian deconstruction to sexuality, not as essence but relation to power. Truth is manufactured by isolating subjects, creating "special jurisdictions," building narratives serving power structures. Sexuality discourse preserves status quo through subjectivism.
Foucault dismantles this fallacy but offers no alternative. His critical philosophy reveals intention as truth's constituent—you see what you intend. Enframing compartmentalizes sexuality, tainting results by parameters and method. Western law, appealing to manufactured reason, breeds injustice. Islam reserves law-making to Allah alone.
The Sufi Path to Unveiling
Sexuality demands a holistic approach embracing the entire being, not enframing by subject. Truth must speak through unveiling—removing man-made veils. This is Sufism: freeing sexuality from fallacies legally imposed. Deconstruction means liberation through the heart's cognition, where Truth manifests without distortion.
